Friendsville Timeless Traditions
A Celebration of Community, Tradition, and Timeless Memories
Each September, the City of Friendsville opens its arms to welcome residents, families, and friends back for a day steeped in nostalgia and small-town charm. The Friendsville Homecoming isn’t just an event; it’s a heartfelt reunion that honors the past while celebrating the people and traditions that continue to shape our future.
Back in the day, Homecoming was known for greased pig chases, greased pole climbing contests, and the scent of festival foods filling the air. Whittlers would sit on benches downtown, carving and chatting, while Keith’s Barbershop buzzed with laughter, stories, and the comforting hum of community life. These were the days when simple joys brought everyone together, and those who were there will tell you that they were some of the best days.
While today’s rules and safety restrictions no longer allow for some of those traditions, the spirit of Homecoming lives on. Our challenge now is to create new traditions, fresh experiences that our children will one day look back on with the same fondness and joy. With classic car shows, local vendors, live music, and family-friendly activities, Homecoming continues to be a day where stories are made and memories are shared.
So bring the family, connect with your neighbors, and help us keep the spirit of Friendsville alive. It’s a time to honor where we came from while building something just as special for the future, because Friendsville is, and always has been, a place where friends gather.
