Responsibilities

The Finance Department is responsible for preparing financial plans such as budgets, capital improvement plans, and financial projections. These plans act as roadmaps that are used by all City departments to conduct their business activities throughout the year.

The Finance Department also manages cash and investment portfolios, as well as oversees debt issuances. The Finance Department oversees the purchasing activities of the city and purchase orders. The Finance Department records all financial transactions and provides financial stewardship over the assets of the City. We support the activities of the operating departments and provide fiscal management and oversight.

On a regular basis, the Finance Department reports financial results to the City Council. Annually, the city is audited by a third-party independent accounting firm.
