Youth Recreation Board

The Friendsville Youth Recreation Board serves in an advisory and support role to help guide the development, improvement, and long-term growth of parks and recreation opportunities for the City of Friendsville. The board works alongside City leadership, staff, and community partners to help strengthen recreational programs that are affordable, family-friendly, and focused on positive youth development.

The purpose of the board is to advise and assist the Board of Commissioners in developing and maintaining a broad youth recreation program for Friendsville. They provide recommendations related to the improvement, growth, operation, and expansion of recreation programs and help identify the needs and interests of the community regarding parks, recreation facilities, and programming.

The Friendsville Youth Recreation Board includes City leadership and appointed community members, with representation from Friendsville Elementary School staff and the community, supporting a strong connection between local recreation and the families it serves.

Regular meetings are held on a quarterly basis; the board may also meet as needed to discuss upcoming projects, program goals, and priorities. When meetings are scheduled, public notice will be provided through the local newspaper and posted on the City’s website under the Agendas section. All meetings are open to the public to encourage transparency and community involvement.
